Blake Shelton, reigning Country Music Association Male Vocalist of the Year and the self-proclaimed “most interesting man in country music,” is gearing up for his highly anticipated eighth studio album “Red River Blue,” available everywhere today.

In support of his new release, the Oklahoma country music superstar will appear tonight on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” airing at 10:35 p.m. on CBS . He also will appear Wednesday morning on “LIVE! With Regis and Kelly,” which doesn’t air in OKC, and Wednesday night on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” which airs at 11:35 p.m. on NBC .

The Tishomingo resident was recently featured on the cover of The New York Times’ Arts & Leisure section ,which stated that he is “becoming the most important and visible ambassador from Nashville to the American mainstream.”

The country superstar’s latest chart-topping single, “Honey Bee,” is off “Red River Blue,” and the sweet ballad is Shelton’s first ever digital platinum single. With “Honey Bee,” Shelton holds the record for the fastest-selling digital platinum single for a male country solo artist. The single held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Country chart for four weeks in a row with more than 40 million in audience. No country artist has held this record in almost six years. The single marks Shelton’s fourth consecutive No. 1 hit: “Honey Bee,” “Who Are You When I’m Not Looking,” “All About Tonight” and “Hillbilly Bone.” Shelton has nine No. 1 hits and has not had a single peak outside the top 10 since 2007.

Look for my interview with Shelton about the new album, along with my “Red River Blue” review Friday here at BAM’s Blog, on NewsOK and in the Weekend Look section of The Oklahoman.
