DUBLIN, Calif. (AP) — MC Hammer suggests he was a victim of racial profiling when he was stopped and arrested by police in the Northern California city of Dublin.

The ’90s rap star tweeted on Saturday that an officer approached him in his car and asked “Are you on parole or probation?”

He says that as he handed over his ID, the officer reached inside the car and tried to pull him out.

Jennifer Lawrence draws throngs in Santa Barbara film festival stop

What a ride it’s been for Jennifer Lawrence in the past year, one that continued Saturday night when she picked up an award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

She’s won Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards for her turn as Tiffany in “Silver Linings Playbook,” a performance that also got her a second Oscar nomination for best lead actress — at age 22. She hosted “Saturday Night Live” and also starred in the blockbuster “The Hunger Games.”

That’s a lot for anyone. When asked about it on the red carpet outside the Arlington Theatre, Lawrence smiled, took a deep breath and told The Star, “Yeah, it’s been exhausting and an honor.”

ROCKVILLE — Darlene Lenze of Cedar Lake has a passion for landscapes, flowers and animals; especially horses. Her work in oils is currently on display at the Covered Bridge Art Gallery in Rockville.

Lenzes education includes Ball State University, Rhode Island School of design, 15 years of weekly classes with Wes Berrier of Hobart, plus weekly classes with Northern Indiana Art Association in different media.

In 2011 she not only won Best of Show in the Covered Bridge Art Associate Show, but also two first places, a second place and a third place in the Lake County Fair Art Show.

TERRE HAUTE — A club in New York City or the front room of the Eldredges’ house near West Terre Haute.

The setting never fazed Terry Eldredge, even as a teenager. He could play music anywhere, bold and confident.

“He was never bashful,” recalled Louis Popejoy, a renowned Terre Haute musician and one of Eldredge’s early mentors.
